Origin: Created by Craig Mathews of Blue Ribbon Flies (though sometimes noted as inspired or co-designed alongside John Juracek)
Purpose: Imitates a caddis pupa struggling to break through the surface film with its gaseous bubble and trailing shuck.
When to Fish: Deadly during active caddis hatches, especially when trout are sipping subtly just under or on the surface rather than taking high-floating dry flies.
